At OCEANR, our commitment to environmental sustainability drives us to forge partnerships that yield tangible benefits for our planet. That’s why we’re excited to announce our new partnership with SeaTrees, an organization dedicated to restoring coastal ecosystems. Through this collaboration, we will be funding the planting of 315 mangrove trees every month in Marereni, Kenya, supporting a vital reforestation project with lasting benefits for both the environment and local communities.

Why Mangroves Matter

Mangroves do more than line the coasts—they are powerful carbon sinks, protectors of biodiversity, and natural shields against climate change. In fact, mangrove forests absorb up to five times more carbon than tropical rainforests, making them an essential part of the solution to climate change.

The Marereni Mangrove Restoration Project, led by SeaTrees in partnership with local conservation groups, is working to restore 640 hectares of degraded mangrove forest. The goal? To plant over 775,000 mangrove trees, ensuring long-term ecological and social benefits.

Our Commitment: Planting for the Future

By funding 315 new mangrove trees every month, we’re contributing to:

🌱 Carbon Sequestration – Mangroves lock away vast amounts of carbon, helping combat climate change.
🐠 Thriving Marine Life – These trees create vital habitats for fish, turtles, birds, and other wildlife.
🌊 Coastal Protection – Healthy mangrove forests act as barriers against erosion and storm surges.

But the impact goes beyond the environment.

Creating Sustainable Benefits

Mangrove restoration is about more than just trees—it’s about strengthening ecosystems and empowering communities. In Marereni, this initiative is driving long-term environmental and social change, ensuring that conservation efforts benefit both nature and the people who depend on it. The project has already provided over 600 jobs for local community members, with 40% of these roles held by women. These jobs not only support conservation efforts but also enhance access to healthcare, education, and food security for the people living in the region. The project provides training for local villagers, equipping them with the skills needed to manage mangrove nurseries and continue conservation efforts.
A thriving mangrove ecosystem directly supports fishing and eco-tourism, ensuring these industries remain viable for generations to come. Mangroves are carbon-storing powerhouses—just 30 trees can sequester 9 tons of CO₂ over their lifetime, making them essential in the fight against climate change.

A Ripple Effect of Positive Change

At OCEANR, we’ve always believed in the power of small actions adding up to big change. This partnership is a natural extension of our mission to protect the ocean and invest in sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact.

We’re proud to be part of the solution, and we hope our journey with SeaTrees inspires others to support initiatives that help regenerate our planet.

Stay tuned for updates on our mangrove restoration efforts, and let’s make waves together for a better, bluer future. 🌍💙
