WHAT ARE WE DOING TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE?
Certified CARBON NEUTRAL by Plant-for-the-Planet
We try to limit our carbon footprint in any way that we can. While we take every measure possible to lower our impact, we, like all humans, are still left with a footprint. We offset all of our carbon emissions from product shipments, global operations, and corporate travel through planting trees with Plant-for-the-Planet.
Plant-for-the-Planet is an initiative created by and for children and young adults. Their aim is to train 1 million young people to become Climate Justice Ambassadors, who will encourage people all over the world to do their part to reach their goal of planting 1,000 billion trees.
As we grow, we are developing new, ambitious goals for the future and will expand our action plan for climate change. This is only just the beginning of our efforts and commitment to fighting the climate crisis.
Supply Chain Optimisation
A company is only as good as its suppliers. We only engage with suppliers and manufacturers who contribute to sustainable business practices and have policies in place around employee health, safety and environmental issues. It’s a process that requires longer-term relationships built around trust and collaboration.
We will continue to implement our “on demand” supply model which eliminates large volume production of unneeded and unwanted products and resulting waste. We will also continue to seek out more eco-friendly raw materials to feature in our design process, with the goal of increasing recyclability and reducing supply chain emissions. In line with our commitment to sustainability, our ecommerce packaging is 100% plastic free. This includes the use of brown paper bags, hang tags made from recycled paper and reusable delivery bags for yachts. We are also working towards having fully compostable packaging in 2021.
Protecting Critical Ecosystems
We all know the world has to radically reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other global warming gasses. An additional project we intend to support in the near future is mangrove preservation and restoration. Mangroves are carbon storing superpowers. Their branches, leaves, and complex root systems sequester carbon and bury it in their surrounding sediments. They can store 50 times more carbon than forestry, including tropical rainforests. They also provide critical habitat for an abundance of wildlife and fisheries, and can protect local communities from the dangers of climate change. We are currently researching Mangrove restoration organisations whom we can align with, and hope to be able to make an announcement in the near future on our chosen partner.
