Mother of Corals

Mother of Corals takes a creative approach to coral reef restoration. They provide coastal communities with the tools they need to help reefs thrive.
They start by building artificial reef structures out of cement. Over time, corals grow on top of these structures to form fully functioning reefs, reviving the ecosystem and restoring the natural balance.

Project Overview

THE CHALLENGE

Mother of Corals sought to expand their rash vest collection with designs that reflected their marine conservation mission while bringing a distinctive visual identity to the water. The goal was to create a collection of rash guards that would stand out both aesthetically and functionally, while aligning with environmentally conscious production methods and materials to help minimise environmental impact.

OUR SOLUTION

OCEANR worked together with Mother of Corals to develop a fully-customised rash vest edition to suit their brand identity and functional needs. Mother of Corals shared their passion for marine ecosystems with us, and we created a reflection of their commitment to educating others about coral reef restoration.

About

Mother of Corals

Mother of Corals is an NGO that partners with local communities to rebuild coral reefs and promote sustainability. Their projects focus on training local community members to build artificial structures that create permanent fish habitats. Using a proven process, they help communities worldwide implement new reef ecosystems.
OCEANR was delighted to partner with the team and work towards our shared goals of making conscious decisions that actively work towards revitalising our planet’s ocean ecosystems, all while producing premium quality gear.

Collaboration Highlights

Customised Designs

Inspired by the movement and textures of coral formations beneath the ocean’s surface, the custom rash vest design for Mother of Corals combines flowing organic patterns with deep ocean blues to reflect the organisation’s connection to marine restoration. The bold sleeve artwork mirrors branching coral structures, creating a visual identity that feels both energetic and rooted in nature.

Eco-Friendly Production

At OCEANR, we believe in responsible production practices that minimise unnecessary waste and overconsumption. The rash vest were produced on demand, meaning only the required quantities were manufactured, avoiding excess stock and overproduction.

The collection was created using sublimation printing, an environmentally conscious production method that does not require water during the printing process and helps minimise fabric wastage.

Recycled Materials

The rash vests were developed using OCEANR’s Wave Balance fabric, a high-performance recycled polyester created from post-consumer plastic bottles collected through established recycling systems. The recovered materials are transformed into recycled polyester yarn, giving discarded plastic a second life through functional apparel.

By choosing recycled materials, the collection helps reduce reliance on virgin polyester while supporting a more circular approach to product development and responsible manufacturing.

Shared Values

A key highlight of our partnership with Mother of Corals was our shared sustainability mission. It was inspiring to work with a team who dedicate their time to addressing marine protection and offering education and discovery programmes.
