COMMITTED TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

The Project

PADI wanted to further develop the wholesale merchandise side of their business for Dive Centers and Resorts. The diving community is very eco-conscious and thus a key requirement was to engage with a partner who could make sustainably made, eco-friendly clothing and products, and help them test a growing market. This would be PADI’s first foray into selling custom designed, branded merchandise. They wanted to utilise the skills of an organisation that specialises in sustainable consultancy and product design, supply and manufacture.

Solution

We worked very closely with PADI to define their requirements and began to prototype and design a sustainable custom rash vest range to test the market opportunity. We guided and supported PADI through the whole process – managing and executing the design phase right up to the sourcing of sustainable fabrics, product sampling, manufacture, and supply chain. We worked to a low minimum order quantity to align with their sustainable goals and eliminated all plastic packaging.

Result

Over the past two years PADI has seen exponential growth in their merchandise range. The eye-catching, multicolour designs instantly became popular with divers who were looking for an alternative to plain, block colour rash vests. The partnership on rash vests alone has reclaimed over one hundred thousand plastic bottles from the ocean – recycled to create the polyester in each vest.

“We are very impressed with the depth and breadth of their capabilities when it come.s to sustainable merchandise.”
