We are delighted to announce that by December 2025, OCEANR’s partnership with Plastic Fischer will have successfully removed 15,000 kilograms of plastic waste from our rivers and prevented it from entering our oceans.

This amount of plastic is the equivalent of 2,5 million shopping bags, so we are proud to say that our partnership is making a tangible and positive improvement to the quality of our planet’s river biodiversity.

Plastic Fischer has also provided OCEANR with a certificate to verify not only the direct impact, but the sustainable, circular processing of this 15,000 kilograms of discarded plastic. All of this waste will be recovered from rivers and processed under international best practices. Each kilogram will be independently tracked and verified through Empower’s digital tracking system.

This attention to detail throughout the resource management process involved in Plastic Fischer’s immense work to remove plastic from rivers has contributed towards three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — Clean Water and Sanitation, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Life Below Water.

OCEANR is proud to directly support the immense work that Plastic Fischer is undertaking on their mission to restore balance to our global river biodiversity, and we can’t wait to see where our shared sustainability journey leads us next.
