The Formula 18 World Championships brings together the world’s best sailors in the F18 Catamaran class for a full week of races, from July 5th to 11th at Noordwijk aan Zee in the Netherlands. OCEANR is delighted to announce that we are sponsoring Gaeil Force at the event, Ireland’s first ever F18 Youth Team.

Hosted by Noordwijk Sea Sports Club, the Dutch waters are sure to provide ideal conditions for sailors over the coming week!

Our Sponsorship

The team at OCEANR won’t just be watching this event simply because our passion for water-sports, but because we are proudly sponsoring the Irish sailing duo of Sam Rigley and Seán Lemonier. They are competing under the team name of Gaeil Force and they are making history as Ireland’s First F18 Youth Team!

We collaborated with these two talented sailors to design customised rash guards and pinnies for the event that are sure to stand out on the water. Using the colours of the Irish flag and a Celtic cross as inspiration for their team design, we were delighted to see our sponsored gear being used to represent Ireland in every sense.

Their Story

Gaeil Force’s Sam Rigley and Seán Lemonier have both sailed from a young age, so we were delighted to sponsor them as they progress into next stage of their sailing journey. If there is one thing that the entire team at OCEANR loves, it’s using our voice in the community to support local talent through our sustainable clothing.

While the pair have been sailing together for about a year, Lemonier comes from a sailing family, and began sailing Optimist Dinghies as soon as he was old enough. He has also sailed a Topper and a 420 Dinghy, as well as a Spitfire Catamaran. On top of this extensive sailing experience, Lemonier has consistently competed in club and national competitions, and has been invited to sail in international competitions.

Sam Rigley has an equally impressive background. Also beginning sailing at a young age, his career took off in summer camp before progressing to weekly training. Rigley has sailed an Optimist, RS Feva, and 420 Dinghy. He has also competed in national competitions and using a Catamaran, achieved first youth boat in the Irish Multihull Association (IMA) nationals.

It’s safe to say Gaeil Force are more than ready to hit the Dutch waters in a Nacra F18 Evolution.
