How do you reduce waste created in the production process?
Although we use efficient cutting techniques, a small amount of fabric waste is inevitable in any apparel production. Our team in Latvia collects fabric waste until there is a sufficient amount to repurpose it, such as into tote bags.
What is OCEANBALANCE?
Our proprietary range of 18 certified sustainable fabric types.
Are your garments made from recycled plastic?
Yes, we use recycled polyester derived from plastic bottles and fishing nets.
How do you offset your carbon emissions?
Through eco-conscious production, sustainable shipping, and monthly mangrove planting, which you can read more about by clicking here.
What is your Take Back Programme?
OCEANR customers can return their old garments to us for repair or recycling. We repurpose them into items like laundry bags and teddy bear stuffing.
How does your partnership with Plastic Fischer work?
We fund a TrashBoom system in Indonesia’s Citarum River, targeting 25 tonnes of river plastic removal annually. Click here to read more about this partnership and how the TrashBoom works.
Do your products shed microplastics?
It is possible that recycled polyester may shed some microfibres. To combat this, we recommend using a microfibre filter. Our organic cotton and linen products do not shed microplastics.
Are your garments biodegradable?
Products made from organic cotton, linen and hemp are biodegradable. It’s important to note that while the fabric itself is biodegradable, certain elements like stitching threads, labels, or any added prints may not be.
Recycled polyester is not, but it supports circularity across the global economy and supply chains.
Do you use seaweed, hemp or bamboo in your fabrics?
Yes. Our Fabric Innovation Lab is developing textiles using seaweed and hemp. We already use bamboo in our towel range. Learn more about our fabrics by clicking here.
What is your Revive Our Oceans initiative?
This is our mission to remove 250,000kg of ocean waste by 2030, supported by every purchase. Through our partnership with Plastic Fischer, we recently reached a milestone of removing 30,000kg of river waste, which you read more about by clicking here.
