COMMITTED TO CONSERVATION
The Project
Conservation and sustainability form an integral part of the Four Seasons Maldives ethos. Surrounded by the Indian ocean with its white sand beaches and tropical coral reefs, a core mission of the Four Seasons Maldives was to protect their sea and landscapes via sustainable business practices. The resort became a plastic free island in 2019 and this drove their need to find businesses who could support their sustainable goals. A key goal was to stock sustainable product ranges in their gift shops for visitors who would be engaging in water based activities such as snorkelling, swimming and diving.
Solution
The Four Seasons Maldives required bespoke, high-end, sustainably made products that prominently featured their branding, with zero plastic packaging. As a resort surrounded by the Indian ocean a key requirement were rash vests with a high UV protection, leggings for yoga and land based activities and a range of stylish hats for sun protection. We used polyester made from reclaimed ocean waste, and incorporated elements of the logo into the designs. The clothing featured a nod to the Island’s largest inhabitant, the manta rays, and the Four Seasons’ recognisable tree logo also featured prominently in the designs, in particular the legging ranges.
Result
The result has been a very successful sustainable clothing line, in line with the Four Seasons Maldives’ sustainability goals, which has become a popular purchase for visitors to the luxurious resort. In 2021, the Four Seasons Resort buyer intends to extend the product offering to two other resort locations in the Maldives, and also develop sustainably-made clothing ranges for their staff.
“It was a pleasure to work with the OCEANR team – from product concept to design and sampling, all the way through to customer service and the final product.”
