Today marks the release of a new documentary from David Attenborough titled, ‘Ocean’. Although this film examines the damage caused to ocean biodiversity through human activities, it also highlights the ocean’s capacity for recovery.
“After almost 100 years on the planet, I now understand the most important place on Earth is not on land, but at sea,” said David Attenborough. With his career in nature spanning across seven decades, Attenborough uses the documentary to offer his perspective on the challenges that life in the sea has faced over this time.
Here at OCEANR, this statement rings true to our own company values. Protecting our seas and creating a circular, sustainable ecosystem has been at the top of our agenda since our inception. A healthier ocean ecosystem would benefit the entire planet, and achieving this goal is at the core of OCEANR’s sustainable production process. Attenborough claims that the “ocean can bounce back to life,” and we believe that too.

Despite the atmosphere of doom and despair that often accompanies ocean exploration and discussions around ocean preservation, Attenborough remains hopeful in his new documentary. “If we save the sea, we save our world. After a lifetime of filming our planet, I’m sure nothing is more important,” he said.
‘Ocean’ releases ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice in June where it is hoped more countries will ratify a 2023 agreement to protect ocean biodiversity.
